Come From Away
Wow! What a production. I thought it was brilliant. So impressed. Wonderful, emotional, and real performances. Great direction and staging. And a perfect cast.
And equally important, the sound design by James McPherson. So important in a show like that to clearly hear all the lyrics and dialogue of the different stories being told. James is the best.

Excellent, superb, great music especially the hard-working keyboard, the players all lived their characters and were unfailingly convincing, thetiming of the gag lines was spot on. In all my years of attending all sorts of events. It is very rare for the entire audience to jump to their feet and applaud. Our little group attend quite a few shows at the Q and the CT and this production was right up there with the best and outshone the Canberra production of June 2023 Whatever you are doing next week we'll be there.

What an absolute banger of a local production. I started crying at the start and kept going the whole way through, what a wonderful cast and incredible talent and clever staging. We are SO lucky to have this show - everyone was incredible. Would love to have named a favourite performance but would require me to list the whole cast.

Wow! I was blown away by this show.
I went in a little unsure of what to expect, I haven't seen much musical theatre, and only knew the basics of the story.
Absolutely stunned by the talent, and just love the heart-warming and inspiring retelling of a true story.
The way the actors effortlessly moved between characters was amazing, and through both humour and moments of reflection and raw humanity, they drew the audience into the story.
I loved the music too! The live band was phenomenal, and brilliant how the band appeared in the story.
Have told all my friends and family to make time and get along to see the show, you won't regret it!!

When I saw dramatic announced they were doing it, I was skeptical that such an intricate show and difficult show would go in community theatre, but I was blown away by how good it was. The whole cast is clearly immensely talented, and have put in the hard work. To call out any one person or performance seems unfair because the quality was so consistent across the board. The production design was both faithful to the original and creative. The band was superb as well. All in all a fantastic production and thoroughly impressive

A fabulous show: thank you! I will see it twice!

A fabulous musical performed by an outstanding cast!
Huge kudos to the cast, the amazing musicians and the production crew for helping to take the audience on such an emotional journey sometimes funny and uplifting, sometimes reflective and melancholy - but always showing the joy of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
Wonderful! Awesome! Bravo!
Graeme
Great production of a wonderfully human story.
Enjoyed the interval-free format, which allowed one to stay engaged with the tension and story line.
Shout out to Veronica Thwaites Brown (our SCUNA choir director), who put in a star performance !
Francois
Congratulations on an entertaining and fun production. Your commitment and talent came out on stage and the show was obvious from start to finish. I smiled all the way through, have the soundtrack favourited and will recommend the show to family and friends.

I didnt really know what to expect when my wife took me to see Come From Away at our local theatre, but I was absolutely blown away.
The talent, the music, the emotion, it was almost overwhelming.
Ive never seen a local production like this (though maybe I just dont see enough musical theatre). It was funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting all at once.
An unreal effort from everyone involved.

Goosebumps from start to finish. The creative team have done a fantastic job at honouring the original production while making it their own. I loved the creativity of the set, and the huge 'rock' in the background. The cast were all perfect for their roles, and played them to perfection. The band were excellent, complementing the beautiful voices of the cast the whole way through
You'll laugh, you'll cry, and then you'll want to come back for more. Just brilliant, all of it.

Dramatic Productions has done an absolutely amazing job with this production. Everything about it was executed perfectly from the casting and their characterisations, movements on stage and ability to balance the dynamics of the storyline from the site, heartfelt moments and humor. One of the best shows I've seen in Canberra.

I had the immense privilege of seeing Dramatic Production's 'Come From Away' on opening night, and it was one of the best theatre experiences I have had in Canberra to date. Directed by Kelly Roberts and Grant Peg, the small cast of 12 delivered powerful and emotionally rich performances that were authentic and naturala testament to the verbatim, real-life stories. Impressive harmonies filled the auditorium in numbers such as 'Prayer', and '38 Planes (Reprise)/Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere', credit to Caleb Campbell's excellent musical direction. This extended to Campbell's direction of the band, which excelled in playing the 'folk-rock-musical theatre' style of the show, all complete with a tremendous performance centrestage during 'Heave Away' (With incredible ugly stick playing). Jaw-dropping choreography and movement of luggage by Nathan Rutups brings the real essence of the Newfoundland spirit into the performance.
The cast was phenomenal, each being a standout in their own particular way. Deborah O'Toole filled audiences with tears in her heart-strung performance of 'Me and the Sky', whilst Isaac Gordon (Claude) excelled in bringing to life the heart and soul of Newfoundlanders in the stomping 'Welcome to the Rock'. Joe Dinn and Vikram Chunali were hilarious in their roles of Kevin T and Kevin J, raking in the laughter whilst allowing for reflection in the beautiful 'Prayer'. Tracy Noble was perfect as the compassionate and selfless Beulah, forming an incredible bond with Hannah (Veronica Thwaites-Brown) as the two struggle through Hannah's loss of her son. Veronica Thwaites-Brown is also to be commended for a gut-wrenching performance of 'I am Here', which struck each audience member to the core. David Pearson and Tina Meir played the hopeful and cautious Nick and Diane, whose love bloomed during the beautiful 'Stop the World'. Alissa Pearson gave an emotional performance as Bonnie, whose care and determination for the animals on the planes left audiences with tears-stained cheeks. Adam Salter was hilarious as Constable Oz and others, providing incredibly funny moments that contrasted well with the mood of the musical. Travis Moore gave an authentic performance of the paranoid Bob, whose guard is let down as he accepts the community spirit of the small town. Charlotte Gearside's performance of the new-to-town reporter Janice was funny and punchy, and tied the entire story together through her ongoing reports of the event.
Overall, this performance of 'Come From Away' was incredible. Its message still holds true today; one of love, acceptance and community amid the terrors of the world. If there is any show you need to see this year, it had better be this one.

Brilliant production of Come From Away!! Couldnt fault the production - every one of the performances from the cast and musicians was top class and professional. Wonderful voices, fantastic footwork and engaging characters. Well and truly deserved the standing ovation they received

I purchased early bird ticket for opening night, seated roughly in the middle. I Didn't know anything about the plane diversions to Newfoundland off the Canadian coast).
I loved the performance, especialy that one piece of clothing changes and suddenly a new character, or the group swivels with a light change we go from plane to bus.
Whole performance was fantastic, singing execelent, especially pilot song.
Ranging from serious drama to well timed comedic relief this show is not to be missed.
Ps. The music is also performed live.
Tim
I was blown away- such an incredible performance. All of it. We are coming back to see it again. Such an incredible story of people coming together in times of fear or uncertainty. This is a must see. Cant believe how talented all the cast are.

What a breathtakingly beautiful show! Come From Away had me laughing uncontrollably when passengers were welcomed with endless plates of sandwiches and when the mayor joked about the towns sudden population boom. But its the kindness that truly shines locals lending phones to call loved ones, cooking meals for thousands, and treating strangers like family. These moments reminded me how good people can be, even in dark times. The music is infectious, the cast extraordinary, and the message deeply human. Its not just a musical its a celebration of empathy and community. Five shining stars!

An unforgettable night at the theatre! Come From Away is a joyful, deeply moving celebration of humanity that sweeps you up from the very first note. The casts seamless storytelling, heartfelt performances, and energetic music create an emotional rollercoaster one moment youre laughing, the next youre wiping away tears. Its a rare show that leaves you both entertained and profoundly touched. Without knowing the backstory, I was captivated by the compassion, kindness, and hope it portrayed. A beautifully crafted, uplifting experience Come From Away is pure theatrical magic. Five stars without hesitation!

Excellent performance, music goes hard. Also my mum was in it so it's an automatic masterpiece. If I say otherwise she will send a tactical death squad to my current location. Loved the performance, hope to see more from you guys.
Jesse Brown
Fantastic production of a wonderful show!

An incredibly moving story told in the most captivating way. One of the most impressive parts was how the cast of 12 were able to effortlessly transition into so many different characters throughout the 100 minutes. The performance had me laughing and crying all at the same time. A heartfelt and uplifting experience highly recommended for all ages!

From the moment the lights went down, Dramatic Productions Come From Away at Gungahlin College was nothing short of extraordinary. Under the masterful direction of Kelly Roberts and Grant Pegg, this production captured the heart, humour, and humanity of one of the most uplifting stories of our time.
The cast of twelve delivered performances so rich and authentic that every role felt lived-in and real. Their seamless transitions between characters, accents, and emotions were a joy to watch; each performer commanding the stage with power, grace, and warmth. Without question, they all deserved the standing ovation they received.
This show makes you laugh, makes you cry, and ultimately leaves you deeply moved by its message of kindness, resilience, and connection. The folk-inspired score had the audience tapping their feet one moment and wiping their eyes the next.
A heartwarming and unforgettable night of theatre; Come From Away is a must-see. Five stars, without hesitation.
