Angela is a performer, director, writer and facilitator. She studied with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, trained at E.15 Theatre School in London and has a Masters in Shakespeare studies from the University of Birmingham. She is passionate about performance in all forms, inclusive theatre, promoting new work and talent and encouraging creativity to blossom in the most unlikely places.

Angela has over 30 years of theatrical experience as a performer, director, tutor/facilitator and artistic director of a theatre company in the UK. She has performed predominantly in community theatre, classical theatre and experimental theatre. She has also run drama and inclusive dramatherapy workshops for 20 years.

She also has over 15 years of PR and events organisation experience from small, local community festivals to large global exhibitions. She has worked for a number of large professional services organisations including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young and the South East England Development Agency.

 

CURRENT EMPLOYMENT

Artistic Director, InsideOutside Theatre Company

This is a new theatre company which Angela has just set up to create and promote new work, particularly in the fields of social inclusion and inclusive theatre, here in Australia. She has received RADF funding to run inclusive theatre and dance workshops which have now been launched successfully in Redcliffe. Her role also involves programming for 2013 including workshops and productions and managing grant applications. Facilitating drama with partner organisations working with disabled people and devising new work for the company incuding a children’s touring show and several new adaptations.

Angela is also working with Redcliffe Opportunities for Peoples Enhancement Assoc, Cerebral Palsy League, Endeavour Foundation, Pine Rivers Disability Services and Horizons Respite Centre as a drama facilitator for people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Angela also runs an extra-curricular speech and drama programme at St Joseph’s Catholic School in Brisbane, coaching students through their AMEB examinations and helping them with speech and communication challenges.

Angela is an international member of the British Association of Dramatherapists. She recently returned to the UK for a short work placement with ChickenShed inclusive theatre company in London.

As a voice and speech and drama tutor Angela has worked with ChickenShed Theatre, the Marlowe Theatre, Upbury Performing Arts College, the University of Kent and her own company the Kent Youth Theatre.

Angela is looking to move into executive board roles in areas where she feels she can add value including Theatre/The Arts, Disability and Regeneration.

She is currently a board member of Moreton Spaces, a new organisation set up to breathe life into empty commercial buildings by brokering deals between property owners and creative enterprises.

She also heads up the Performing Arts Group of Access Arts QLD and has just been elected as the Theatre portfolio member to the Moreton Bay Regional Council RADF Advisory Committee.
