Gerard was raised in country NSW and graduated from NIDA(Sydney) in 1993. In those 33 years, Gerard has worked across theatre, TV and film. Gerard works extensively with Miranda Harcourt and has expertise in verbatim performance. He is a musician and vocalist.

Television Highlights include: The Jury S2(SBS), Home & Away, Total Control S3, Riot(ABC), The Code S2, Camp(NBC), Rake S2 and Underbelly Badness. Theatre Highlights include: My Beautiful Man(Alana Valentine/Merrigong), Hand To God(Old Fitz), Breathing Corpses(KXT), Australian Open(KXT), Folk(Ensemble), Proof(Glen Street), Cold Light(The Street Theatre) ,Hidden Sydney, Dead Man Brake ( Merrigong ).

Gerard was directed by Tony Award winner, John Tiffany, in the original Australian production of Once(MTC/GFO). He toured extensively in BuddyThe Musical throughout Australia, Asia and NZ.
