Laura Dawson has been involved with the Canberra theatre scene for 10 of her 21 years, and in that time has managed to squeeze in over 20 plays and musical theatre productions. Her most memorable performances include Serena in Legally Blonde (Free Rain) Cosette in Les Miserables (Canberra Philharmonic) and Sandy Dumbrowski in Grease (Free Rain) for which she received a CAT award nomination. Other than playing the roles of Jennifer in The Witches of Eastwick (SUPA) Lucie Manette in the Australian premiere of A Tale of Two Cities (QCC) and supporting roles in Duncan Ley's Home at the End (Everyman Theatre) in the last few years, Laura has been seen as the lead singer and dancer of Entourage Production's touring cast of Rogue Dolls Australia as well as a squad member of the NRL Raiders Cheer-squad, 'The Emeralds' (and a national finalist for the 'Big League Cheerleader of the Year' competition). She also completed her studies in a Bachelor of Arts at ANU, majoring in Drama, English and Music last year. This is Laura's third show with the Everyman crew, and she has vowed that she will always keep coming back for more!
View My Personal BioLaura has performed in close to 30 productions since she was a child, highlights include Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Grease (Rizzo and Sandy), Wicked (Alt. Glinda), Avenue Q (Kate Monster) and Chicago (June) in both Sydney and Canberra. Laura has toured nationally both as a singer and dancer, performing professionally at large scale events. In 2016, Laura co-founded childrens entertainment group The Beanies, and the band has since been nominated for an Aria award for 'Best Children's Album' (2019), staged an original touring musical just for kids, and created a podcast which has eclipsed over half a million downloads and won an Australian Podcast award in 2018. When Laura isn't peforming, you can find her cuddled up with a book and her puppy, King Louie.
