Marcus returns to the stage in Grease, his seventh show in Canberra. Growing up in a musical family, Marcus draws great inspiration from his mother’s contagious passion for singing. He initially appeared in Canberra’s first production of Phantom of the Opera with Free Rain and quickly followed this with roles in Annie, The Witches of Eastwick, Kismet, Sunset Boulevard and My Fair Lady. 

Marcus is cultivating a long and successful relationship with the theatrical community in Canberra and hopes this continues for many more years to come. 

Rosanna is an experienced singer, energetic actress and evolving dancer who is excited to engage all three skills in the iconic role of Sandy.  She is a soprano who has practised and trained for ten years in classical, choral, art song, folk, jazz, musical theatre and popular styles.  She has been seen in various leading, supporting and cameo roles in My Fair Lady, La Cage Aux Folles, Sunset Boulevard, Kismet, Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Singin’ in the Rain, The Mikado and in concerts around Canberra. 

Rosanna was recently selected as a National Finalist for the Miss World Australia pageant and has begun to participate in charity work through the organisation’s Beauty with a Purpose initiative.  She will continue to be grateful for opportunities to sing and to develop in entertainment and performing.

Vanessa is a primary school teacher who has been performing on the Canberra musical theatre stage for about 6 years. Most recently Vanessa was seen playing Marta in Everymans 2015 production of Company and earlier that year Rizzo in Queanbeyan City Councils performance of Grease and Cathy Hiatt in Dramatic Productions The Last Five Years. In 2014 she appeared in Queanbeyan City Councils Production of Sunset Boulevard as Betty Schaefer, Free Rain Theatre Companies production of Legally Blonde as Margot and the understudy for Elle Woods and SUPA Productions Witches of Eastwick as Sukie Rougemont.

Vanessa currently studies voice under the tutelage of the fabulous musical maestro Sharon Tree.  Her other theatre credits include Canberra Philharmonic Society’s 2013 production of Les Miserable as Eponine, Everyman Theatre's 2012 RENT as Mimi Marquez, Canberra Philharmonic's 2012 production of Hairspray playing Amber Von Tussle and Pheonix Risings 2012 How to Succeed in Business as Rosemary Pinkleton.

Amelia has been singing and dancing since the age of four, performing for anyone who would watch!  She is studying dance and drama at Narrabundah College and has been in numerous dance and school production.  Amelia has played a Blood Sister in Pied Piper’s production The Dracula Rock Show (2012), was a dancer in SUPA Production’s Footloose (2013), Frenchie in Canberra Philharmonic Society’s Cabaret (2014) and Eva’s sister in Evita in March, and was part of the dance ensemble in PeeWee Production’s Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular in June.

Amelia is extremely excited to be performing her first principal role with such a wonderful and talented cast.

Risa has a theatre, dance, film-directing, music and performance background, alongside a passion for teaching and working with children. Starting in Canberra with QL2 Youth Dance as a child, Risa quickly became familiar with concepts of creative collaboration, discipline, storytelling- and performance technique, and had a great introduction to modern dance in working with many choreographers in concept pieces. Her dance passion has since moved to Tribal fusion styles of belly dance. Music and theatre have played major roles in Risa’s love of the arts, and throughout secondary schooling she participated in musicals and plays, from comedic to verbatim theatre, particularly taking to challenging emotive roles and, contrastingly, physical comedy, which is a big component of her teaching style with children. 

Risa was lead jazz vocalist in band KCP (2013), and is featuring on ukulele and vocals at the annual Merimbula Jazz Festival in 2015 with funk-fusion band Reservoir Cats. Other shows include Les Miserables  with Lyneham High School, the role of Peter in Child Players’ Peter Pan (2010), Dickson College’s The Laramie Project, as well as several QL2 projects. Risa currently works as a Kids Entertainer for Capital Kids Parties and at the Belconnen Community Service Centre as a facilitator for the Tiny Tumblers Program (kids aged 2-4) and a ukulele teacher, and as a dance teacher for Gumnut Dance.

Sophie has a soft spot in her heart for musical theatre.  Whilst currently completing her Drama and Music HSC, Sophie undertakes singing tuition and studies at Eden Dance Academy and, eager to learn, she participates in workshops with the likes of NIDA and Rachael Beck. Sophie has participated in many productions as part of the rigorous Performing Arts stream at Karabar High School, including Little Shop of Horrors, Reflections, The Power, Oklahoma!, as Ado Annie, and, most recently, as the Storyteller in The Musical Adventures of Peter Pan. In 2013, Sophie branched out onto the community theatre scene appearing as Winnie in Queanbeyan Players’ production of Annie Get Your Gun.  In May this year she performed in Hothouse – A Showcase of Monologues with Budding Theatre in May.  

Sophie aspires to further her education in the performing arts and become a seasoned performer in the Canberra theatre community. She would like to thank the creative team for their wisdom and patience, and her parents in their support of her undertaking of the infamous HSC, dancing, two jobs, and Grease all at the same time.

Liam is 18 and currently studying Year 12 at Dickson College.  He has always had a love for performing arts and is very excited to be performing in the role of Kenickie in Queanbeyan City Council’s production of Grease. This is Liam’s fourth musical, but his first outside of school. He has been in three Lyneham High School Productions, featuring as a chorus member in Once On This Island (2010), understudy of Ren in Footloose (2012) and Kenickie in Grease (2013). 

As well as enjoying performing, Liam is interested in sports, particularly baseball and gaming. This opportunity has reinvigorated his passion for musical theatre and has made him consider pursuing this further at university in the future. Liam has enjoyed working with the talented cast of Grease and looks forward to doing more shows in the future. And a special thankyou to his girlfriend, for encouraging him to audition for the show.
