I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

24 Apr 2013 to 5 May 2013

Subtitled 'Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws but were afraid to admit', I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change first opened off-Broadway in 1996 where it ran for more than 5000 performances.  The desire for love is a fundamental urge, but perhaps as basic is the drive to remake the object of your affection.  That's the funny and poignant premise of Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts' record breaking musical.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is about people trying to connect.  This hilarious musical revue is about relationships, how they affect the individual for better or worse and how love can make us crazy.  Through a clever use of satirical humour, the show pokes fun at the intrinsic human need for wanting to love and be loved in return, the course of action that we choose to take in order to achieve our desires.  I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is as much about the characters connecting with the audience as it is about the love stories.  It is about truth, compassion and the emotions that we all experience, simply by being human.  There is something in this show for everyone and the audience will reflect on their own lives, whilst having a belly laugh doing so.  I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is the hilarious musical comedy show that all will love, precisely why it is now the longest running off-Broadway musical.

After watching this outstanding performance you will walk out feeling that nobody is perfect... and that is OK.  And wondering if they were referring to you and your significant other when playing out the skits.  Laughs are doled out by the dozen in this comedic musical revue.  The skits and songs in this two-hour romp start with a first date and end with a funeral-parlour pickup line.  An arc of vignettes takes us from break-ups to marriage vows to kids... you get the picture.

'Relationships are fertile ground for comedy and tragedy, and this satirical series of sketches, songs and general cries for help, hits the spot - hard.'  Matt Byrne

'It's funny, it's witty!  Hip antics in the name of safe sex!'  The New York Times

'A great date show.  A perfect mating dance.  It's Seinfeld set to music!'  The Star Ledger

'The audience whooped, hollered and hooted its enormous enjoyment and enthusiastic approval at the end of this fabulous show.'  Lyn Lancaster, artsHub

'It deserves big audiences and a long run.  See it twice.'  Ewart Shaw, The Advertiser
